Workplace Seduction—An Office Romance Story

Kira and Sophie were sitting in Kira’s office, wrapping up Sophie’s onboarding before she officially joined the marketing department. As Head of Human Resources, Kira had done a hundred orientations with a hundred employees before today, but none had been quite as cute as Sophie, sitting there in her crisp white button-up blouse tucked into a fitted black pencil skirt, feet squirming uncomfortably in shiny black stiletto heels Kira knew she wouldn’t last the day in. The black pantyhose she was wearing would offer little in the way of relief in the places where stiff patent heels typically pinched. It was like the only office attire the girl had ever seen was from movies.

Kira admonished herself mentally for thinking such things about the new employee, then pivoted to polite conversation. “Is this your first 9 to 5 role, Sophie?” she asked.

“Yes, but it’s not my first full-time job, I worked in a bar for a few years before this,” said Sophie slightly breathlessly, twisting a long blonde ringlet around her index finger.

“That’s quite the change. What made you want to switch to corporate life?” Kira continued, straightening Sophie’s paperwork on her desk and searching her top drawer for a stapler.

“Oh, y’know, just wanted to have a steamy office relationship like you see on TV.”

Kira raised one perfectly manicured eyebrow over her glasses at Sophie.

“Ohmygosh,” a flabbergasted Sophie stammered quickly, blurting out the words in one go while her hands flew to cover her eyes. “I didn’t mean that, I just…I’m so sorry, I make stupid jokes when I’m nervous, but that was a super inappropriate thing to say, and oh my God, you’re like, the HR manager and everything, oh no…” Her face was turning a deep shade of crimson behind her hands.

Kira laughed lightly. “Sophie, take a breath, it’s okay to be nervous. Besides, it wouldn’t be the worst thing I've ever heard during my time in HR.” She plucked the stapler from the drawer and pressed it together with a satisfying
ka-CHUNK, still chuckling as she laid the papers neatly on the desk facing Sophie.

“I’m still so sorry, please don’t think that I’m…” Sophie trailed off, lowering her hands.

“That you’re…what,
lusting after some kind of forbidden workplace affair?” Kira teased, now fetching a pen for Sophie to sign with. “Really, it’s fine, first-day jitters happen! And, hey,” she said, getting frank for a moment, “corporate romance isn’t all it’s cracked up to be anyway. I’ve seen enough of the fallout when it comes to workplace seduction, especially with boss-employee romance. The power dynamic makes things a bit of a conundrum for my department usually.”

Sophie looked up from signing her paperwork, her colour returning to normal. “Must happen a lot then, if you’ve seen so much fallout…”

“Well, office romance isn’t
strictly forbidden here as long as it’s all, y’know, ‘above board’ and cleared with HR via relationship disclosure paperwork if it gets to that point, but it just seems quite messy to tell you the truth.” Kira stood up, gathering the papers. “If you’ll follow me to the copy room, I’ll get you a copy of your own employee handbook and your signatures, and then we’re all done!”

Together they departed for the copy room, Sophie tottering a few steps behind in her stilettos and wishing desperately that she’d broken them in at home. Kira left the door open behind her and lifted the photocopier lid, switching the settings from
Print to Copy before closing it again. In her haste to catch up, Sophie’s shoe caught the corner of a pack of printer paper tucked just inside the doorway and sent her tumbling forward.

“Oof!” Kira grunted as she turned just in time to catch the girl by her flailing forearms. Sophie’s startled blue eyes met Kira’s brown, glinting behind her glasses as she looked down at the new hire. Sophie’s face was barely an inch away from Kira’s chest, which was clad today in a top with a slight V-neck dip; she could feel the blonde’s breath tickling her skin, and Kira couldn’t help but wonder what her cleavage would look like from that angle. Time seemed to stretch on with the two of them frozen in place, unaware of anything outside of the room, outside of each other, outside of the moment…until the whining beep of the photocopier interrupted their daze.

“Ahh, I’m sorry!” Sophie gushed, scrambling to her feet, separating herself from Kira’s grasp.

Kira straightened her top and cleared her throat. “No need to apologise, it’s…a bit of a tight squeeze in here most of the time, even with just one person.” She grabbed an employee handbook from the nearby shelf and slid the fresh, still-warm copies on top, taking care not to brush her fingers against Sophie’s as she handed the documents over. “Here are your papers. I'll show you to your desk.”

Kira gestured for Sophie to exit the copy room first. With that, the blonde seemed to awake from her trance, thanked Kira, and teetered out in her heels. Kira bent to tuck the printer paper further away from the door, watching for just a second as those hypnotic hips wiggled to and fro atop a pair of lusciously long legs that disappeared into that tight little pencil skirt…

Kira shook her head a little.
She’s the new girl, get a grip, Kir!

After dropping Sophie off at her desk and leaving her with the marketing team, Kira drafted an email reminding all staff members it was time to recertify in their OH&S compliance modules at their earliest convenience and began updating the relevant modules accordingly. Although this was not normally a task she would have struggled with, her mind was having trouble focusing. It seemed unable to brush off the encounter in the copy room, her thoughts returning to that gaze they had shared long after she had hit
Send. After a month or so since onboarding, the thoughts began to stray beyond memory, and though she dutifully fought them at first, eventually, the thoughts began to win.

After all, it wasn’t like she was trying to
seduce Sophie into some steamy office relationship, and it wasn’t exactly a problematic case of boss-employee romance. In fact, they were in completely different departments, Kira reasoned with herself. They’d hardly even see each other all that much, outside of HR meetings and training sessions (where they’d definitely keep things professional, Kira thought) and work events outside of the office (where absolutely nobody would be keeping things professional). Surely there was nothing wrong with having a harmless little office crush…

Over the following years, Kira watched Sophie grow into her role, then the one above it, and the one above that, though it had been just as, if not more satisfying to track her personal growth and watch her blossom from a naive ex-bartender into the confident career woman she was today. She made astute strategy assessments and had become more able to speak her mind freely according to the performance reviews her team manager had submitted year after year. She had been excellent conversation at several post-work drinks events and the Christmas parties too, and the two had become somewhat close, often lingering just a little longer than the others.

It was the day of Sophie’s annual wellness and development review, and Kira was fondly remembering the adorably frazzled girl from several years ago when said girl knocked on her door. She was wearing almost exactly the same outfit as she had worn on her first day, though she was certainly owning her high heels this time instead of the other way around. Better shoes, better pantyhose, or better of both over time perhaps.

“Ah, right on time, Sophie.”

“You know what Tom used to say, Kir,” Sophie replied with a grin.

“‘Come early or don’t come at all!’” the two women crowed in unison, laughing at the memory of the office’s loveably cranky janitor Tom, who had since retired but was well-known for trying to instill his obsession with old-school work ethic into everyone he met.

Sophie’s review was a relatively jovial process, discussing how she felt about being more involved in the company’s marketing decisions and praising her successes where she had taken initiative. They were now on the topic of where she felt she could continue to grow within the company and what they could do to help her achieve her career goals.

“And are there any aspirations you feel you haven’t met here, or would like assistance in achieving?” Kira asked, her pen poised over a pad of paper that was already full of her notes.

“Well, I never did get that office romance underway,” Sophie said, a sly smirk making its way across her face.

Kira rolled her eyes with a lighthearted scoff. “You’re still hung up on that joke? It was your first day, cut yourself some slack!”

“I’m more hung up about the fact that I’m having significantly fewer, what was it you called them? ‘Forbidden workplace affairs?’” she quipped back, drawing air quotes as she spoke. “Yes, I’m having significantly fewer forbidden workplace affairs than I was promised.” An inexplicable smile was playing on her lips.

“‘Promised’? Sorry to disappoint, Sophie, but this company never ‘promised’ any such thing,” Kira said wryly. The joke was beginning to get old now. Why did Sophie keep insisting on it?

“Yeah? Well, I know I’m not the only one who still thinks about what happened in the copy room, Kira.”

It was as though all the air had been sucked out of the room, the sounds of the gently ticking wall clock amplified a thousandfold. Kira’s mouth was suddenly very dry.

“Wh-what are you talking about?”

“Oh come on, Kir, you’re not exactly subtle when you check me out.”

Kira could feel an intense heat spreading from her core and into her face. “This…this is highly inapprop—”

“What’s inappropriate is the way you look at me, Kir, and then you have the nerve to act like everything is just fine and dandy between us?”

It had been a long time since those blue eyes had pierced Kira like this. Not since that day in the copy room. The effect was paralysing, and in her terror of finally having her so-called ‘harmless’ work crush found out, Kira could see nothing but herself packing up her desk and leaving with the telltale cardboard box once the HR scandal broke out.

Sophie must have seen the fear in Kira’s eyes. “I’m not going to report you to, well…you, I guess. Look, I’m just saying…isn’t there…
something here?”

She was looking at Kira expectantly.

“I…I don’t…”

Sophie gave a short, sharp sigh. “Are you telling me all those sneaky little glances, the long chats at the bathroom sinks, they were all nothing? That I’ve been wearing these ridiculous outfits for nothing?”

Kira took a breath. “Why are you saying all of this now, Soph? It’s been…years.”

“And? What of them?”

“Well, why couldn’t this have waited until…”

“Until what, one of us quit, Kir? I’m not planning to go anywhere else any time soon, are you?”

“No, of course not.”

“You see my problem then.”

Kira’s head was reeling with dizzying implications. It was some time before she spoke again, measuring each word in her head like a carefully laid script.

“For what it’s worth, I don’t think you look ridiculous in what you wear to the office, but if you are uncomfortable, you are free to wear other office-appropriate attire that is more to your liking.”

Sophie nodded silently to herself and sighed deeply this time. A look of undeniable disappointment crossed her face, touched with a tinge of regret.

“What parts of your outfit do you find uncomfortable?”

A look of brief bewilderment alighted Sophie’s face, morphing into dejected resignation almost as quickly.

“The tight skirts and the heels, obviously. I can’t believe
you can wear them with no prob—”

“The shoes I’m afraid I can’t do anything about, but if a tight skirt is causing you discomfort…well, it’s simply going to have to come off.”

While interrupting Sophie, Kira fixed an unflinching gaze from behind her glasses at the blonde woman across the desk from her.

“We can’t have you uncomfortable at the office now, can we, Sophie? How would you be able to think and do your best work while distracted by your skirt?”

Sophie’s eyes were alive with curiosity. “I suppose I wouldn’t be able to…”

“Mmm. Best we do something about it then. Might I suggest…the copy room? The walls in here already know too much about too many people.”

Sophie gave a short laugh, that smile back on her lips as she looked away, her signature bashfulness returning from all those years ago. “Bit of a tight squeeze from what I remember.”

“I’ve never forgotten.”

Five minutes later, the two of them had staggered their arrivals in the darkened copy room. Despite the printer paper having been moved to the shelves long ago, there was a new table here holding copious stationery supplies and it was quite a snug fit for both women. Their bodies were so close the air felt electric.

“Should we turn off the photocopier?” Sophie whispered.

“Why?” Kira whispered back.

“In case it goes off,” came the hushed reply

“It’d be more suspicious if the copier
wasn’t going off, don't you think? Plus, if we leave it on, the photocopier will let us know if someone’s coming to get their printing!”

They broke out in giggles at their plan that they quickly tried to quieten, shushing fingers to their own lips, then the other woman’s, before eventually their barely-concealed laughter was replaced with the soft sounds of making out and the discreet rustle of clothing as hands roamed over each other’s supple curves. Breathless, Kira pulled herself from Sophie just long enough to move her lips to the blonde’s smooth neck.

“This skirt of yours that’s giving you so much trouble, Sophie. How do you undo it?”

“Glad you asked, it’s actually a bit fiddly.” She gently pushed Kira back so she could turn around. “It unzips from the bottom up. You might have to get on your knees,” she whispered apologetically over her shoulder.

“With pleasure,” Kira growled into the back of her neck, her fingers lightly raking down the curve of Sophie’s waist, hips, and outer thighs as she lowered herself. A gleaming zipper was waiting for her between the backs of Sophie’s inner knees, dangling deliciously in front of her eyes. With bated breath, Kira pulled the zip upwards slowly, keeping the sound of the zipper as quiet as possible while getting to savour the view for as long as possible as more and more of Sophie’s toned thighs came into view. Just before the zipper hit the fullest part of Sophie’s butt, the stockings suddenly gave way to a sliver of pale skin, then more as Kira revealed sleek suspenders striping down the back of her thighs in a rich shade of burgundy red, holding up a pair of thigh-high stockings. Kira could hardly hold in her groan of delighted appreciation, and she certainly couldn’t take things at the zipper’s snail pace any longer.

With a quick and sharp
zip and a little gasp from Sophie, the skirt was undone until only the waistband was holding it in place, the back split open like two curtains revealing a most marvelous stage. Kira’s hands slid up and around the plump cheeks before her and began to push and pull them apart, squeezing them and massaging them together. The unmistakable soft smacking sounds of wetness upon each pull apart told Kira everything she wanted to know.

“Bend over, use one hand to brace yourself against the copier, and put the other one over your mouth.”

Sophie did as instructed. Kira removed her glasses and tucked them into the V of her buttoned blouse and peeled down Sophie’s soaked satin thong to her knees before beginning a tender but relentless onslaught of pleasure as her tongue deftly dove in and around Sophie’s smooth, wet folds. In the near-silence of the room, Kira could hear the creak of the photocopier’s plastic as Sophie’s grip on it tightened.

Her hands moved to those splendid suspenders, hooking her index fingers behind them in swift motions, pulling them back and letting them go in a tiny little
snap-snap. This elicited a rather poorly-muffled moan from Sophie that was quickly stifled into a delectable whimper behind her hand.

Mmm. Ideas, ideas, ideas…

Kira was dreaming up future fun, revelling in the experience of the sweet musk dancing along her tongue while Sophie’s pillowy thighs trembled against her face when all too soon, the copier suddenly whirred to life, interrupting their little slice of heaven.

“To be wrapped up some other time, my dear,” Kira murmured as she rose up and helped Sophie dress, repositioning her panties and quickly rezipping the skirt from top to bottom in one fluid movement.

“Wait,” Sophie said quickly, pulling Kira into a frenzied, passionate kiss. “So you don’t have to hide your face as much on the way to the bathroom,” she said, licking her lips and tasting herself as the two parted. “Now, go!”

“But—”

The copier beeped insistently, spitting out sheet after sheet.

“Go!” Sophie hissed with a playful shove. “I’ll sort myself out, don’t worry.”

Kira replaced her glasses and did her best not to look as though she was scurrying to the bathroom. She was grateful not to have passed anyone along the way. After freshening herself up, she walked purposefully back to her office and was seated safely behind her desk, drumming her fingers on her laptop keyboard, wondering if Sophie had been lucky enough to make an elusive escape like hers.

A minute later, several nonchalant knocks sounded against her door. “Kir?” called Sophie’s voice from behind it. “I’ve got those copies you asked for.”

Playing along, Kira responded, “Oh, thanks Sophie, just a sec!”

She opened the door to see the blushing blonde clutching one of the many pre-prepared ring binders that contained the employee handbook and ushered her in with what she hoped looked like a normal amount of welcoming hand gestures.

With the door now shut, the two of them felt as though they could breathe again.

“That was…”

“Hot.”

A brief, appreciative pause hung in the air before Kira spoke up.

“If we want to make something of this, we should disclose this to someone else in the HR department. I can’t administer the paperwork since we’ll need to co-sign it together, but I trust that my team will be able to handle this professionally.”

Sophie nodded. “Okay,” she said, before adding, “...and we
probably shouldn’t do stuff like this while we’re at work.”

Kira laughed and took her glasses off, rubbing the inner corners of her eyes before replacing the glasses. “No, probably not,” she agreed ruefully. “I think we can chalk this one up to the heat of the moment sweeping us away, the sexual tension bubbling over, and all that jazz.”

Kira searched for Sophie’s eyes. “I’m sorry this took so long, and that after all that buildup, we didn’t even get to finish you.”

“Well, since we did get off to quite a late start, I’ll forgive my not coming just this once.”

A look of utter puzzlement played across Kira’s face before the joke hit her and the two of them laughed in unison once more at the words of Janitor Tom.

“So I guess the only question now is…your place or mine tonight?”
